Jeanne L. Hockley

Jeanne L. Hockley, age 94, of Carlisle, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle.
She was born January 10, 1924 in York to the late Charles R. and Elsie (Ehrhart) Lockwood and was the widow of E. Richard Hockley who passed in February 2007. They had been married for 65 years.
Jeanne was a 1941 graduate of William Penn High School, York and retired as an Administrative Executive Secretary from Dickinson College after over 32 years of service. In the 1940’s, Jeanne and her parents moved to the Carlisle area to operate the Lockwood Grocery Store. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Eastern Star Old Bellaire 375 Chapter, Carlisle, where, in 1968, she was a past Worthy Matron. Most of Jeanne and her late husband, Dick’s, retirement was spent in Port St. Lucie, FL at the Spanish Lakes Retirement Community. She enjoyed golfing and served many years as an officer in the Ladies League at Indian Hills Golf Club. She also recorded 3 hole-in-ones in her career. She was an avid pinochle and bridge player.
She is survived by: her son, R. Stephen “Steve” (wife Ruth) Hockley of Carlisle; five grandsons, Matthew S., Lucas C. (wife Rajah), Andrew R., Mark L. (wife Jessica) and Stephen J. (wife Libba) Hockley; and six great-grandchildren, Zazni, Molly, Lucas II, Verona, Brooks and Leo. In addition to her parents and husband, Jeanne was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Nailor.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Chaplain Bradley V. Moore officiating. Private burial will be at the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
