J. Earl Kough

J. Earl Kough, 69, of Newville, died Saturday, October 20, 2012 at his home.
Born April 26, 1943 in Newville, he was a son of the late Elmer E. and Sarah Rachael Spangler Kough.
He was owner operator of Koughs Oil Service and E. E. Kough Sons. Earl was caretaker and board member of the Newville Cemetery. He had a life membership in the American Legion Post 421, Newville and the VFW Post 6070 of Newville. He was also a member of the NRA and the Pennsylvania Petroleum Association. He was an avid hunter.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Dessie N. Kough of Newville; two sons, Michael A. Kough (and wife, Irene) of Newville and James E. Kough of Lake City, SC; two grandchildren, Brandon and Megan Kough; one brother and five sisters, Kenneth E. Kough of Newville, Madalyn Cornman of Newville, Addessa Snyder of Newville, Doris Snyder of Newville, Ruth Wiser of Newville, and Rachael Ann Brougher of Carlisle. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, William W. Kough and two sisters, Elizabeth Brubaker and Ethel Kough.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Newville Church of the Brethren, 16 Carlisle Road, Newville with Rev. John F. Hess officiating. Burial will be in Newville Cemetery, Newville. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the church and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church.
