Herbert G. Morrow

Herbert G. Morrow, 95, of Carlisle, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.
He was born in June of 1927 in Loysville to the late Harvey and Elizabeth (Freeman) Morrow. Herb was the widower of Ferne (Wilkins) Morrow who passed in 1986.
He was a member of the Carlisle Alliance Church. He loved his church family and as he aged many of the members were a great help to him. Herb honorably served his country in the US Navy during WWII from 1944 - 1946. He served on the USS Birmingham and was part of the invasion of Okinawa and Iwo Jima. Bowling was his hobby that turned into his career. He started bowling at the age of 13. Herb was in numerous leagues including traveling leagues. He opened Newville Bowling Lanes in 1964 and started working at Carlisle Barracks Bowling Center in 1973 and continued until he retired in 1988. Herb also owned and operated Morrow’s Pro Shop for 39 years. He was proud to have been inducted into the Greater Harrisburg Bowling Hall of Fame.
Herb is survived by his son, Todger (wife Sue) Morrow of Newville; his daughter, Carolyn Naugle of Carlisle; his grandson, Chadd (wife Jen) Naugle of Carlisle; and his great-grandson, Jax Naugle.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Carlisle Alliance Church, 237 East North Street Carlisle, PA 17013. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the church. Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Herb to Carlisle Alliance Church, 237 East North Street Carlisle, PA 17013.
