Helen Marie Felty

Helen Marie Felty, 90, of Carlisle passed away February 11, 2013 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle. She was born June 3, 1922 in Algona, IA to the late Harry and Esther Waggoner Witmer. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn H. Felty, her daughter Marie, son Ronald, and sister Leona Judy.
Surviving are two sons, Rev. Richard Felty (Joy) of Carlisle, Eugene Felty of Macungie, daughters Doris Lay (Paul) of Carlisle, and Crystal Basehore (David) of Camp Hill. She is survived by three sisters, Pearl Barrick, Grace Durnin (John Luther), and Joann Eslinger (Joseph). Two brothers, Rev. John Witmer (Betty) and VerleWitmer.
Twelve grandchildren Jackie Murdough (Andrew), David Felty (Trupti), Kimberly Fraher (Clarence), Brian Felty, Amanda Comperchio (Michael), Jessica Wenger (Chad), Melissa Felty, Robert Felty (Angela), Christopher Felty (Erica), Alex Felty, Max Felty (Genevieve), and Zachariah Basehore.
Thirteen great-grandchildren include Hayley and Andrew Murdough; Fletcher, Rudyard and Arabella Fraher; Austin and Madison Wenger; Jackson and Casey Comperchio; Kaitlyn and Andrew Felty; Aaron Felty; and Deacon Felty
She was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School Beauty Culture School in Harrisburg. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, New Kingstown, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the chancel choir. Helen was a church soloist and performed at local weddings, at times joining her two sisters in the Witmer Sisters Trio. She lived on the family farm for 72 years where she was a homemaker. She enjoyed using the training she received at Beauty Culture School to work as a hair stylist for her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, New Kingstown, on Saturday February 16, 2013 at 11:30 AM. The Rev. Eric Funk will officiate. A Graveside Service with Internment will be held at the convenience of the family.
