H. Marlene Bryant

December 26, 1941 — November 29, 2015

H. Marlene Bryant, age 73, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at her residence with her loving family by her side.
She was born on December 26, 1941 in Washington, PA to the late Robert W. and Helen Vandever Courson, Sr.
Marlene was a nurse with the former Belvedere Surgical Associates, but most recently was a nurse at the Bryant Surgical Group in Carlisle. She was a graduate of Trinity High School in Washington, PA, Class of 1959, a graduate of Temple University School of Nursing, Class of 1962 and was the recipient of the W. E. Bernett Award in Surgery. She was a member of the Faith United Presbyterian Church in Washington, PA. Marlene enjoyed walking, movies and lunch dates with her friends. She enjoyed family outings and vacations to the Outer Banks, but most of all, she just enjoyed any time she spent with her loving husband and family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Dr. David W. Bryant of Carlisle; three sons, Dr. D. Shaun (and wife Carrie) Bryant of Chambersburg, Colin W.(and wife Nancy) Bryant of Elizabethtown and Dr. D. Patrick (and wife Ruth) Bryant of Asheville, NC; a daughter, Paige A. Bryant-Sweeder and husband Charles Sweeder of Carlisle; two brothers, Robert W. (and wife Bette) Courson of McMurray, PA and Douglas W. (and wife Anna) Courson of Marietta, OH; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Jason R. Hefner, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Waggoner's United Methodist Church Cemetery, Carlisle, PA. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30 until the time of the service.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Presbyterian Church, 900 E. Beau Street, Washington, PA 15301 or to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 897, Hershey, PA 17033.
