Glenna B. Murray, 90, of Carlisle died Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.
She was born on March 28, 1924 in Goodyear, PA to the late Morris Edward and Stella Myers Beam and was the widow of Clair E. Murray who passed in 1996.
She was a graduate of Carlisle High School, Class of 1941 and attended the Carlisle Business School. She was a former employee of Carlisle Shoe and retired from the Carlisle School District. She was a member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gardners where she enjoyed playing the piano and directing the choir at the church, was a Sunday school teacher, directed Bible School as a leader and was active with the Altar Guild and the Ladies Aid Society of the church. In the past, Glenna enjoyed gardening around her home but mostly she enjoyed spending time with her loving family.
She is survived by a son, Arthur E. "Art" Murray of Carlisle; a daughter, Elaine M. Shughart and husband Thomas of Shippensburg; a sister, Wilma Snyder of Carlisle; four grandchildren, Angela Ragan, Jason Shughart, Emily Murray and Kelly Murray; three great grandchildren, Cole Thomas Shughart, Garrett Robert Ragan and Liam Jackson Shughart. She was preceded in death by a brother Lester Beam.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle, 770 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA with Rev. Walter Frankenberry officiating. Interment will be in Goodyear Cemetery, Gardners. There will be a viewing Wednesday, March 18, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle and Thursday at Chapel Pointe from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4200 Carlisle Road, Gardners, PA 17324 or to Chapel Pointe at Carlisle, 770 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
