Gertrude K. Shoenberger, 92, of Carlisle, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle.
Born September 7, 1919 in St. Thomas, PA, she was a daughter of the late Hilary Frank and Alice Avis Mowen Mayhugh and the widow of Franklin P. Shoenberger.
She was a member of Dickinson Presbyterian Church, Carlisle. Gertrude was an amateur artist who liked oil painting, especially landscape. She loved quilting and was a great cook. Gertrude was a loving and caring mother.
Surviving are four sons, Walter E. Shoenberger (and wife, Paulette) of Beloit, WI, Franklin P. Shoenberger, Jr. (and wife, Jan) of Goose Creek, SC, Dwight W. Shoenberger of Harrisburg and Richard A. Shoenberger (and wife, Nancy) of Mount Holly Springs; two daughters, G. Jean Koser (and husband, Charles) of Mount Holly Springs and R. Arlene Adams (and husband, John) of Meadville; one sister, Helen Clever of Mercersburg; twenty grandchildren; thirty two great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Thelma Young, Irene Piper, Mary Pheil and Olive Egolf and two brothers, Wilbur and Charles Mayhugh.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
