Gertrude L. Brownawell

Gertrude L. Brownawell, age 92, of Carlisle, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 15, 1923 in Middletown, PA to the late Alfred and Helen Mae Gutshall Willman and was the widow of the late Earl C. Brownawell.
Gertrude was a graduate of Biglerville High School. She was formerly employed by Musselman Foods in Aspers, the Carlisle Shoe Factory and at the Carlisle Barracks.
She is survived by a brother, Donald (and wife Mary Ann) Willman of Middletown; a step-brother, Harry Showers, Jr. of Harrisburg; and four brother and sisters-in-law, Robert and Lois Brownawell of Shermans Dale, Lee and Betty Rhoads of Carlisle, David and Phyllis Brownawell of Shermans Dale and Jess Brownawell of Bedford. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Earl Eugene Brownawell; a brother, Richard Willman; a sister, Jackie Willman; and a step-sister, Audrey Goodyear.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Pastor Timothy Keller officiating. Burial will be at Westminster Memorial Gardens. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Friday from 12:30 until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Claremont Nursing & Rehab Center, 1000 Claremont Road, Carlisle, PA 17013.
