George D. (Skip) Emlet

George D. "Skip" Emlet, 75, of Carlisle, died Monday, June 23, 2014 at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle.
Born March 21, 1938 in Monaghan, York County, he was a son of the late Dale Jacob and Laura Naomi Miller Emlet.
He was a 1956 graduate of West Shore Joint High School, Lemoyne. George retired as a truck driver for ABF after many years. He also drove for Keen Trucking. He was a member of St. Johns Masonic Lodge #260 F&AM. He raced cars and liked to watch Nascar. George was a US Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War.
Surviving are his companion of twenty-five years, Elois Moore of Carlisle; three children Dale Emlet of Newville, Brett Emlet of Shippensburg, and Jenny Emlet of Cumberland, MD; three sisters, Fern Page of Mechanicsburg, Freda Dailey of Loysville, and Donna Hurst of Palmyra; and five grandchildren, Jenny, Kaetlyn, Kiera, Taylor, Sabastian and Logan Emlet. Also surviving are his companion's children and grandchildren, which George loved as his own. Her children are Dwain Meador of Mt. Holly and Dean Kimble of Las Vegas, NV; and three grandchildren, Kayla Meador, Kylie and Carter Kimble.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2014 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Paul Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Sunny Side Cemetery, York Springs with full military honors provided by Cumberland County Honor Guard. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014 and on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday during the viewing.
