George A. Sneed

George A. Sneed, 70, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at UPMC- Pinnacle, Carlisle.
He was born December 2, 1947 in Pittsburgh, PA the son of the late Arlie Sneed and Frances Palma Fusco Sneed.
George retired as a financial advisor with Wachovia Securities, formerly W.H. Newbolds. Before becoming a financial advisor, he was a school teacher at the Cumberland-Perry Area Vocational Technical School. He was a long-time member of the Carlisle Country Club, the Friends of Kings Gap, and the Kim Studio of Tae Kwon Do in Harrisburg.
A true Renaissance man, George was a pilot, a race car driver, a gardener, a beekeeper, a morel hunter, and a beer and wine maker. George enjoyed photography, astronomy, woodworking, and people. He also loved making bread and cooking, especially meatballs, for members of his large extended Italian family. George built musical instruments, notably mandolins and guitars, and loved playing blue grass music as a member of the Bluegrass Express, Backwoods Funk, and Country Bob and the Bar-B-Que Boys bands.
George is survived by his children: George Sneed of Noblesville, IN, Kevin Sneed and his wife Jill of Harrisburg, PA, Zachary Sneed of Carlisle, and Jocelyn Sneed of Carlisle, three grandchildren: Isabella Sneed and Elijah Sneed of Carlisle, and Ethan Sneed of Harrisburg, his brother: Raymond Sneed and his wife Joan of Pittsburgh, PA and two sisters: Arlene Longstreth and Rene Sneed both of Pittsburgh, PA
Funeral services will be private for the family. A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA 17013
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Project Share, 5 N Orange Street, #4, Carlisle, PA 17013.
