Garry R. Snyder

Garry R. Snyder, age 72, of Carlisle, PA, passed away at Holy Spirit Hospital on October 12, 2022. Born June 13, 1950, he was the son of the late Adam G. And Evelyn Ellenberger Snyder of Mechanicsburg, PA. He was the husband of 27 years to his loving wife, Cynthia, and a devoted father to his three daughters.


Garry was a 1968 graduate of Cumberland Valley High School and built his career as a respected insurance broker for over 50 years, most recently for Amwins Program Underwriters. As a member of St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church, he served on church council and taught Sunday school classes. Garry grew up on the Conodoguinet Creek, married on the Susquehanna River, and spent many beautiful afternoons on the banks of the Yellow Breeches with his wife and dogs. Being near the water, along with boating and fishing, were great loves of his. In other spare time, Garry enjoyed watching Nascar, and cheering for his favorite teams, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Miami Dolphins. Garry was also proud of his past experiences as a member of the Pennsylvania Chariot Racers, a wheelchair sports team that competed locally, nationally, and internationally.


Garry’s first love was always his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Gwen Snyder of Enola, Julie Dennis of Carlisle, and Grace Snyder of Birmingham. AL. He is also survived by his brother Robert (Bob) Snyder of Mechanicsburg ,PA.


A private family service will be held to honor his life. Arrangements are entrusted to Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd, Carlisle, PA. 17013
