Freda Pearl Blessing

Freda Pearl Blessing, age 95, of Carlisle, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at her home.
She was born September 10, 1922 in Boiling Springs to the late John H. and Grace (Boyles) Hoover and was the widow of Francis W. Blessing.
Freda was a 1939 graduate of Carlisle High School and worked in the catalog department for 27 years at Montgomery Ward, Carlisle. She loved all animals, especially dogs and cats, and working in the flower beds around her home. She enjoyed reading, traveling, collecting postcards, antiquing and genealogy. Freda was formerly a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack #160. She was a member of AARP and Carlisle United Methodist Church and formerly First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by: a daughter, Joanna H. Hoff of Dover; two sons, Donald E. and Michael D. Blessing, both of Mechanicsburg; and two granddaughters, Jill A. (husband Rick) Rose of Elk View, WV and Jessica L. Faraone of York. In addition to her parents and husband, Freda was preceded in death by a son, David W. Blessing, step-mother, Elsie Hoover and a step-sister, Betty Weigle.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. James VanZandt officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Boiling Springs. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
