Francis "Levere" Boone

Francis “LeVere” Boone, age 82, of Carlisle, entered into heaven on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle Hospital.
He was born November 14, 1935 in Enola to the late William W. and Mary Irene (Minium) Boone.
LeVere honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Iowa as a cook from 1953-1967. He started working at the David Bottling Company (7UP), Harrisburg, working his way up from a bottling processor to a manager. He also helped to start the union there. From there, he worked for Commercial Refrigeration, Harrisburg, until his retirement. LeVere was an avid pool/billiards player who won many trophies with 5 different leagues. He was a life member of the Fraternal Orders of Eagles, Aerie 1299, Carlisle, the VFW of New Bloomfield, #7463, VFW of Carlisle, #477, and a life member of the Enola Sportsman Club. LeVere was a proud, direct descendant of Daniel Boone. He was a member of Sheaffers Valley Church of God, where he was the Treasurer for many years and attended Huntsdale Church of the Brethren, Carlisle.
He is survived by: his wife of 15 years, Carol E. Roth (Gordon)Boone of Carlisle; seven children, Daniel (wife Ginny) Boone, Tony Boone, Teresa Hartman, Edward Boone, Shirley Ortiz and Janice (husband Dan) McNeal; a brother, James (wife Margot) Boone of Camp Hill; a sister, Marilyn Shearer of Mechanicsburg; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and his first wife, Carole M. Boone of Harrisburg. In addition to his parents, Francis was preceded in death by a son, Michael Boone and two infant children, Jeffrey and Veronica.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Huntsdale Church of the Brethren, 170 Church Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Robert Baldwin officiating. Interment will private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 101 Erford Road, Suite 201, Camp Hill, PA 17011 or to Carlisle Cancer Center, 25 Sprint Drive, Carlisle, PA 17015.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA.
