Forrest E. Leone, age 98, of Carlisle, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Green Ridge Village, Newville.
She was born February 5, 1919 in Boiling Springs to the late W. Clyde and Hannah (Dasher) Sanderson and was the widow of James P. Leone, Jr.
Forrest was a 1937 graduate of Carlisle High School. In addition to being an Avon representative, she was formerly employed by United Telephone, Wenger’s Clothing Store, Ritchie’s Card & Gift Store and George’s Flowers. She was a former member of the First Church of God where she was a Past President of the WCSC. In 1981, she became a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she served on the Administrative Board and was a member and teacher of the Thelma McCullah Sunday school class. She was currently a member of Middlesex United Methodist Church and was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. During her lifetime, Forrest taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She was a former den mother of Cub Scout Pack 160 and was a former member of the Carlisle Town Band Auxiliary, Old Bellaire Chapter Order of Eastern Star, #375, the Garden Club and GAR. She loved animals and especially loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by: her daughter, Jolana L. “Jolie” (husband Frank) Rankin of Carlisle; two grandchildren, Jana (husband Brandon) Ridgway of Mechanicsburg and Neil J. Rankin of Carlisle; three nieces, Joy Seavers of Carlisle, Mary Anne (husband Eric) Eckhardt of Underhill, VT and Becky Hess of Newville; and two cousins, Linda (wife Jennilu King) Sanderson and Shirley Panza, both of Loysville. In addition to her parents and husband, Forrest was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Leone.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Middlesex United Methodist Church, 118 N. Middlesex Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Jan Hughes officiating. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. There will be a visitation at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
