Floyd R. Darhower

November 8, 1947 — November 13, 2012

Day Break and the Dawn of a new day...
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012 Floyd R. Darhower greeted his final day. He was 65 years old.
Floyd left this life leaving behind his wife, sons, family and friends imprinted with his love, quiet steadfastness, loyal friendship and humor. Floyd was a gentle man whose core values made all who knew him a better person.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, 8 months and 1 day, Joyce E. Barrack-Darhower, sons Scott R. Darhower and partner Rahn of Tampa, FL and Kurt J. Darhower and partner Blagoja of Philadelphia. Brothers Urie and wife Violet and Michael of Carlisle; sisters Mary Gutshall of Mt. Holly Springs, Patricia Kuhn and husband Eugene and Betty Myers and husband Jack of Carlisle and Faye Enterline and husband Tom of Dillsburg, as well as, many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Floyd was preceded in death by his father Harry J. Darhower and mother Hazel O. Darhower and brothers, Harry, Elwood, Gary, Luther, Donald and Marlin.
Floyd was a self-employed General Contractor in the Carlisle area for 35 years. He attempted retirement, but due to his love for his work he continued to be the "go to" man for anyone who called. Above all, he was an avid hunter and true sportsman. He had recently returned to Montana after completing his long time dream of being on a "Moose Mission" in Alberta Canada. He loved hunting elk, turkey & trout fishing in Montana and it was only fitting that Montana is where he took his last breath. He had also, accomplished a National Turkey Federation "Grand Slam", and was a long standing member and current president of Camp Big Horn as well as a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
Floyd will be missed but we know that he is always on the next breeze that brushes our face or just down the trail guiding our way!!
