Evka Hromin

Evka Hromin, 91, of Boiling Springs, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born December 26, 1930, in Sestrunj, Croatia to the late Ciril and Stosija (Svorinic) Fatovic.

Evka was a very spiritual and faithful woman who gave her family a strong foundation in the Catholic faith. She was a true disciple of Christ. Family was very important to her, she was devoted to her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. Evka was a talented seamstress, enjoyed cooking all types of food, and reading.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Milan Hromin of Boiling Springs; one daughter, Marie Spizuoco of Boiling Springs; one son, Thomas Hromin of Madison, NJ; four grandchildren, Christina Hayek, Adriana Yates, Emily Hromin, and Grace Hromin; three great-grandchildren, Jay Hayek, Nate Hayek, and Lilah Yates; one brother, Mate Fatovic; and one daughter-in-law, Elaine Hromin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Sam Fatovic and three sisters, Marica Fatovic, Mila Svorinic, and Nettie Miehle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 152 East Pomfret Street Carlisle, PA 17013 with Rev. Javed Kashif as celebrant. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. A viewing will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2022, at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Evka to Project Share, 5 North Orange Street #4 Carlisle, PA 17013 or to St. Patrick Catholic Church (for upkeep and maintenance of the Shrine Church), 152 East Pomfret Street Carlisle, PA 17013.
