Ethel M. Carothers

Ethel M. Carothers, age 95, formerly of Boiling Springs, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016 at the Thornwald Home, Carlisle, PA.
She was born in Carlisle on May 8, 1920 to the late Clyde C. and Florence Black Woods and was the widow of the late Charles C. Carothers who passed on June 23, 2002 after 62 years of marriage.
Ethel was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School. She was a lifelong member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boiling Springs where she taught Sunday school for over 70 years. Ethel was often seen driving her John Deere tractor (with her pink hat on) mowing her lawn throughout the summer. Her family meant the most to her. She especially loved cooking Sunday evening meals for her family gatherings.
She is survived by her son, Charles C. (and wife Shyrl) Carothers, III of Boiling Springs; three daughters, Carolyn M. (and husband James) King of Mechanicsburg, Cathy K. Carothers of Carlisle and Cindy A. Carothers and fiancé Todd Ranson of Carlisle; six grandchildren, Edward and Scott King, Charles IV and Corey Carothers, Steven Enriquez and Amy Russell; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lourene Cooke.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Sterlen S. Sheaffer officiating. Burial will be at Baker's Church Cemetery, Monroe Township. There will be a viewing on Friday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
