Emeline R. Thompson, 93, formerly of Mt. Holly Springs, Palm Harbor, FL, and Fairfield Bay, AK, died August 6, 2012 in Nacogdoches TX where her daughter Patricia resides.
Born November 17, 1918 in Mt. Holly Springs, she was a daughter of the late Earl G. and Mary Rank and widow of A. Douglas Thompson.
She was a graduate of the local school system, attended Messiah College and the Philadelphia School of Flower Arranging and Judging. Her life revolved the Garden Prayer, “One is nearer to Gods heart in the garden than anywhere else on Earth.” She was a former member and President of the Carlisle Civic Club and Carlisle Garden Club and past-President of Mt. Holly Springs Borough Council. Her volunteer work included Red Cross, Girl Scouts of America, and garden clubs and became a master gardener. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Carlisle for over 50 years.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia T. Neff (and husband, Searight F.) of Nacogdoches, TX and Bonnie T. Neiman of Palm Harbor, FL; two sisters, Shirley Fenton of Carlisle and Imogene Barbour of Gettysburg; three granddaughters, Carrie Page (and husband, Steve), April Rocco (and husband, Matthew), and Kallie Hilyard (and husband, Tom). “Nana Banana” as she was affectionately named, was blessed by eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. Also, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Laverne and Earl G. Rank, and a grandson, Todd Neff.
A celebration of life service will be held at11:00 a.m., September 15, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church, 2 “A” North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Jon A. Black officiating.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
