Dorothy P. Gibb, 92, of Carlisle, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Church of God Home, Carlisle.
Born September 9, 1922 in Rockville Center, NY, a daughter of the late Frederick R. and Violet B. Behrens Pickering and the widow of James W. Gibb who died April 6, 1992.
Dorothy had been an inspiring artist and art teacher for many years, teaching privately and publically.
She was a member of Middlesex United Methodist Church, Carlisle, a member of the Wives of Men of Legion, she established the Order of Eastern Star in Bremerhaven, Germany in 1959, a former treasurer of Officers Club in Bremerhaven, Germany, and a member of the Red Rose Memorials.
Surviving are two granddaughters, Stacy E. Foy of Mt. Holly Springs and Erin L. Bear of Carlisle and one grandson, C. J. Asher of Oakland, CA; and five great-grandchildren: Tyler, Kayleigh, Emma, Reiley, and Faith. She was preceded in death by daughter, Diane Gibb Leverenz.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville with Rev. Jan Hughes officiating. For those attending the graveside services we are asking people to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. to process to Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Middlesex United Methodist Church, 118 North Middlesex Road, Carlisle, PA 17013.
