Dorothy Elizabeth Shenk, 92, of Carlisle died July 14, 2013 at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.
She was born March 18, 1921 in West Pennsboro Township, Newville, PA. Dorothy was the wife of the late Cloyd Abner Shenk to whom she had been married for 70 years. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Ethel Plough Jacoby.
Dorothy grew up on a farm and graduated from Newville High School class of 1938. She was a life-long member of St. Peters Lutheran Church where she was a member of the choir and served on the worship and music committee. Dorothy belonged to the Kings Daughters Sunday School Class where she taught the primary class children and the bible school for several years. She was also a member of A.A.R.P.
Surviving are her four sons, Samuel and wife Barbara of Newville, Earl and wife Nancy of Newburg, Ronald and wife Barbara of Carlisle, Robert and wife Ruth of Falling Waters, WV; eleven Grandchildren; twenty-one Great Grandchildren and four Great-Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Ginter; two grandsons, Matthew Scott Manning and Raul Rosales.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 18, 2013 at St. Peters Lutheran Church, 210 Brick Church Rd., Newville with the Rev. Donna Cummings officiating. The viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at St. Peters Lutheran Church Cemetery.
