Dorothy Bittinger

Dorothy C. Bittinger, 78, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family ,Saturday, November 19, 2011.
Born July 18, 1933 in Ft. Littleton, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Retta Cooper Helman and the widow of Arthur J. Bittinger, Sr.
She was employed with 25 years of service as an assembler for Flight Systems Parts. Dorothy attended the Carlisle First Church of God and Mt. Holly Springs Church of God. She was a member of the Hospice Support Group through Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home. She loved flowers and watching birds and attending many local festivals.
Surviving are three sons, Arthur J. Bittinger, Jr. of Carlisle, Ralph M. Bittinger of Boiling Springs and Samuel R. Bittinger of Carlisle; three daughters, Patricia B. (Bittinger) Snyder of Carlisle, Carol J. (Bittinger) Barrick of Carlisle and Pamela (Barrick) Royster of Eastover, NC; one brother, Kenneth Helman of Shippensburg; two half-sisters, Freda Glunt of McConnellsburg and Waneda Hoffman of Chambersburg; two half-brothers, Claire Helman and Ralph Helman both of McConnellsburg; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Guy, Herman, Warren, Max and Gerald Helman and three sisters, Arlene Helman, Emma Truax and Mary Barrick.
Funeral services are being held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. D. Alan Mathna officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the funeral home.
