Darlene (Garlin) Darr, 76, of Carlisle passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Newville with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Blain (Perry Co.) on August 14, 1943 to the late George and Iva Briner Garlin and was the widow of Chester Darr who passed on June 11, 2008.
Darlene retired after 36 yrs. from the Hoffman Materials in Carlisle. She graduated from the former Green Park Union (West Perry) High School Class of 1961. She loved Nascar (Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson), country music especially Alan Jackson and she loved to bake, sew, shop, camp and going on cruise ship vacations. Her loving family meant the most to Darlene. She was a loving mother, sister and grandmother to all.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer and her husband Wayne Zinn of Newville, two sons, Palmer and his wife Wanda Darr of Carlisle, Gary and wife Deborah Darr of New Kingstown, her brother George and his wife Vonnie Garlin of Mechanicsburg. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; Amy Ewing, Leon Ewing, April Rhoades, Cody Darr, Shawn Darr, Chad Darr, Cole Zinn and Dalton Zinn, also thirteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. She was preceded in death by a sister Sara Rice.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle with the Reverend Richard L. Reese officiating. There will be a viewing on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 PM. And on Friday from 10:00 AM till time of services. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Boiling Springs, PA.
