Dale L. Floyd, 89, of Carlisle died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle.
Born Dec. 10, 1920, in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Thurman P. and Grace Eberly Floyd.
He was formerly employed by C.H. Masland as director of benefits. He was a graduate of Carlisle High School, class of 1938, and a graduate of Carlisle Commercial College, class of 1939.
He served on the Carlisle School Authority. He was a volunteer at the old Carlisle Hospital and for Meals on Wheels. He was a member of the Brethren in Christ Church, Carlisle, and a member of Volunteer Fellowship Sunday School Class. He enjoyed traveling, being outdoors, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Virginia Spertzel Floyd of Carlisle; two daughters, Carol Zeigler (and husband, Roy) of Carlisle and Nancy Bennett (and husband, Richard) of Holmdel, N.J.; four grandchildren, Jennie Barnhart (and husband, Craig) of Newville, Tim Bennett (and wife, Emily), Anna Bennett and Mark Bennett, all of New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his brother, James M. Floyd.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Brethren in Christ Church, with the Rev. Ken Hoke and the Rev. Alan Robinson co-officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church.
