Curtis Barnett, Dvm

Curtis Barnett, DVM, died in an accident on his farm in Carlisle on April 8, 2017.
Curt was born August 13, 1950 in Pensacola, FL. He was the son of Anna Barnett Weinfurter and the late Joseph Barnett. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dr. Holly Wendell, his mother, Anna, a brother, Eddie Simons and his devoted dog, Bodie.
Dr. Barnett was a graduate of Gosnell High School in Gosnell, AR. He earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree in Biology from Colorado State University. He worked in cancer research prior to being accepted to the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1982.
After graduation, he and his wife moved to Harrisburg, PA. Dr. Barnett was an associate of the Derry Animal Hospital. His dream of owning a clinic and working with small animals was realized in 1984 when he purchased the Carlisle Small Animal Veterinary Clinic. The esteemed Dr. Barnett rebuilt the facility and vastly expanded the practice, while mentoring so many others in his profession. He also established the Good Hope Animal Clinic in Mechanicsburg, PA.
Dr. Barnett was committed to his family, community and friends, many of whom he considered family. He was passionate about his profession, skiing, time spent on the farm and all creatures great and small.
A Memorial Service will be held at The Meeting House, 1155 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, PA on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. A gathering to celebrate Curt’s life will be held immediately following the service at Whispering Pines of Carlisle, 1538 McClure’s Gap Road, Carlisle, PA.
