Charles G. Evans, 74, of Newville, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at his residence with his loving family at his side.
He was born March 27, 1940 in Newport, PA to the late Jesse A. and Mabel M. (Beers) Evans and was the widower of Lunna L. (Kuntz) Evans.
Charles had worked at T. B. Woods in Chambersburg. He was an avid woodsman and logger. He loved to work in his gardens on his property and enjoyed wood working projects. He had a love for animals, all dogs and cats. He loved to go out, get in his car and go out to eat anywhere he liked. Charles loved to do what he wanted to do. But most of all, he loved his feline companion, Oreo. He had a great and loving family who stood behind him.
He is survived by three daughters, Debbie J. (and husband Warren) Merkel of Carlisle, Michelle L. Evans Phillips of Boiling Springs and Tracey S. (and husband David) Ream of Carlisle; one sister, Ada Kiner of Landisburg; four grandchildren, Nathan (and wife Amanda) Merkel, Ashley (and husband Andrew) Myers, Madeline Phillips and Matthew Ream; two great- grandsons, Noah Merkel and Lucas Carey. He was preceded by two brothers. Earl and Carl Evans and a sister, Verna Dell.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens.
