Charles E. King, 84 of Carlisle, died Sunday April 6, 2014 in Life Care Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born April 27, 1929 in Mt. Pleasant, PA, a son of the late George A. and Clara Cornman King and the widower of Geraldine J. Horn King who died in February 10, 2005.
Mr. King retired from the former C.H. Masland and Sons and later Lear Corp, Carlisle after 46 ½ years of service. He was a member of the Wesleyan Church of Cross, where he was a member of the Golden Hearts Sunday School Class and a Stewart and Usher of the church. Charles was a member of the Cumberland Star Lodge #197 F&AM, Carlisle, St. Johns Royal Arch Chapter #171, St. Johns Council #5 and St. Johns Commandary #8 and the Harrisburg Consistory. Charles was a member of the Carlisle Elks Lodge, BPOE #578, member of the residents of N. Middleton Senior Citizens, former Secretary, Treasurer and Supervisor of the N. Middleton Twp. Member of the Cumberland Goodwill Fire Company, N. Middleton Twp. Fire Company and the Carlisle Family YMCA. He was a founding father of the Rock and Rye Hunting Club, Perry Co. Charles enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and vacationing at Rehoboth Beach DE.
Surviving are a brother George L. King, Newville and many nieces, nephews and brother and sister in-laws. He was preceded in death by a brother, William R. King, four sisters, Viola Cornman, Esther Penner, Effie Barrick and Isabel King.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, April 10, 2014 in the Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home and Crematory, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle with the Rev. Daniel R. Mikesell officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. There will be a viewing from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. There will be a Masonic Service at 7:30 pm Wednesday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made the Wesleyan Church of Cross, 430 B. St., Carlisle PA 17013.
