Carol Jean Fenicle Shughart

Carol Jean Fenicle Shughart, 77, of Carlisle, PA passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at the UPMC West Shore Hospital in Mechanicsburg. She was born May 13, 1944, in Carlisle to the late Sylvester W and Arlene M Frye Fenicle. She was a member of Hickorytown United Methodist Church and attended Middlesex United Methodist Church. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word search puzzles, playing rummy, listening to country music, fireman’s festivals, Sunday drives, and family gatherings.

She was a loving wife, mother, and nana who enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She recently celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary to her husband Parker and their family surprised them with an all-expense paid trip to their favorite vacation spot in Pigeon Forge, TN.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Parker W. Shughart, one son, Leroy W. Shughart (wife Traci) of Carlisle, four daughters, Tina L. Malick (husband Ken) of Shippensburg, Kathy J. Himes (husband Ken) of Newville, Diane M. Hess (husband Ronald) of Newville, and Susan R. Shughart (significant other Andrew Puerzer) of Carlisle. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren Melanie Smith, Hunter Shughart, Ajay Shughart, Ashlee Himes, Kayla Himes, Kimberly Edwards, Alexander Hess, Hannah Hess, Cody Lehman, and Elena Lehman and 4 great grandchildren, Kamdyn Drew, Zaedyn Drew, Caroline Edwards, and Autumn Hess; one brother Donald E Fenicle of Carlisle, Patricia Abelt of Ventura, CA, Lucy L. Thomas (partner Larry Whitsel) of Mechanicsburg, and Glenda E. Fenicle of York. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Judy Armstrong and Sandra Nace; one son baby boy Shughart, and one granddaughter Hayley Sue Lehman.

A funeral service will begin at 12:00PM on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle, PA 17013. Viewing will be held on Thursday at the funeral home from 11:00AM until service time. Interment will be in Westminster Cemetery.
