Brenton K. “Brent” Petersen Jr., 77, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019 at UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle, surrounded by his family.
He was born January 1, 1942 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Brenton K. Sr. and Eileen (Reddington) Petersen.
Brent was an avid history and languages lover and loved to teach. He was fluent in German and French and retired from Berlitz Corp. He also loved to read, had a great sense of humor and was very charismatic. A devout Catholic, his faith was very important to him. Brent was a sports lover, especially the New York Yankees and loved to exercise and workout.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Darlene (Snyder) Stolberg, Carlisle; son, Brenton K. Petersen III, and his wife Connie, Fanwood, NJ; daughter, Christine Benfatti and her husband, Gene, Scotch Plains, NJ; step-sons, Scott Stolberg and his wife, Lorraine, Hamilton, NJ and Jeffrey Stolberg and his wife, Gerlyn, Yardville, NJ. Brent is also survived by his grandchildren, Evan; Kelly; Amy; Alexis and Angel and brothers, Dr. Neil Petersen, Waterbury, CT and Thomas Petersen, Warren, VT.
A funeral mass will be held at St Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 4620 Nottingham Way Hamilton Square, NJ 08690 on January 11, 2020 at 10:00am. Burial will be held at St Patrick Cemetery, Carlisle, PA at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
