Barbara W. Starner

Barbara W. Starner, age 73, of Carlisle, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle.
She was born July 8, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Edward and Gertrude J. Klein Wilson and was the widow of Anthony Roy Starner, Sr. who passed December 25, 1992.
Barbara was a registered nurse formerly working in Philadelphia area hospitals. She was also a realtor with the Caldwell Banker Real Estate office in Mechanicsburg. She was a graduate of the Jefferson School of Nursing in Philadelphia and was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg. Barbara was an avid bowler and enjoyed going to the beach with her loving family.
She is survived by her daughter, Kristen S. (and husband Jeff) Smith and their daughter, Emily of Carlisle; and her longtime companion, Frank Ascani of Mechanicsburg. She was preceded in death by her son, Anthony R. Starner, Jr, his wife, Anne and their son, Michael.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Bradley V. Moore officiating. Private interment will be at Rolling Green Memorial Park, Camp Hill. There will be a viewing on Thursday at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the time of the services.
