Barbara R. Thain

Barbara Rita Thain, age 91, of Carlisle, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the Bridges at Bent Creek, Mechanicsburg.
She was born August 17, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Walter and Elizabeth (Kayel) Winn and was the widow of William Harry Thain.
Barbara spent most of her adult life selling insurance in the Melbourne, FL area and was an accomplished marksman. She volunteered for hospice organizations for many years in both FL and PA. Barbara was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Harbor City Chapter #263 of Melbourne, FL, where she was a past Worthy Matron and Carlisle Reformed Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by: her two step-daughters, Bonnie King and Judith Thain; one granddaughter, Alex Bergfield; two great-grandchildren, Tiffani Howell and Joe Saldivar III; and two-great-great-grandchildren, Kyler and Aubri.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Arlene Dunn officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There will not be a viewing or visitation.
