Barbara J. Grippin, 74, of Newville, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Forest Park Healthcare and Rehabilitation.
She was born September 13, 1947, in Carlisle to the late Spurgeon and Elizabeth (Fox) Alsbaugh.
Barbara attended Carlisle High School. She retired from Kinney Shoe after nearly 20 years of employment. Barbara was most recently employed as a Floor Supervisor at Geodis where she worked until her health recently declined. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Minnequa Social Club #375, and an auxiliary member of Shippensburg American Legion Post 223. Barbara was also a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1299 auxiliary and a life member of Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168 auxiliary.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Daniel H. Grippin; four children, Robin L. Weigle of Carlisle, Bobbi Jo Koch (fiancé Mark Miller) of Carlisle, Ronda L. (husband Scott) Wickard of Carlisle, and Bartley J. (wife Lisa) Wilson of Shippensburg; three stepchildren, Nathan H. (wife Shannon) Grippin of Walnut Bottom, Ryan J. Grippin of Texas, and Abbe S. Grippin of Shippensburg; eleven grandchildren, Jeromy, Derek, Niki, Josh, Morganne, Madison, Hunter, Logan, Jonah, Ava, and Olivia; two great-grandsons, Carson and Beau; and three sisters, Sharon A. Shenk of Boiling Springs, Janice L. (husband David) Cole of Arizona, and Sylvia H. Rambo of Carlisle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, David K. Alsbaugh and Ruth F. Coulson.
A memorial service celebrating Barbara’s life will be announced at a later date.
Barbara’s family wish to extend their sincere thanks to the staffs at UPMC Carlisle and Forest Park Healthcare and Rehabilitation who cared for her with such kindness and respect.
