Ali A. Farahani

October 20, 1941 — January 23, 2022

Ali A. Farahani, age 80, of Camp Hill, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 23, 2022. Born October 20, 1941 in Tehran, Iran.

He started his career as the Director of Public Relations of Coca Cola, 7Up and Canada Dry in Iran. Shortly thereafter, he started his career as an entrepreneur, which became his lifelong passion. Ali launched businesses in Iran, Dubai, and the US, in various industries ranging from supply chain, import-export, and manufacturing, to construction, real estate and restaurant development. Ali’s passion for business and his yearning for independence and freedom compelled him to immigrate with his family to the United Stated in 1977.

In 1986 Ali opened his first Subway® restaurant and within a year he became the local Developer for the brand in Central Pennsylvania. Ali led the development of the brand from 3 locations to 230 locations and his team was awarded the Developer of the Year award in 2011 and 2013 when the brand was at its peak. In 2017 Ali sold the Central PA Subway® Development Corporation to focus on his real estate company and to launch his final venture, Oakhurst Custom Cabinets in Virginia.
Ali was grateful for all of the help and support he received when his family arrived in the United States and did everything he could to pay back to his community. One way Ali tried to support the community was through his sponsorship of THON. Starting in 1986 Subway® became a major corporate sponsor, feeding volunteers and providing financial support to the Four Diamonds Fund for over 30 years.

Ali cherished his time with his family as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Surviving is his loving wife of nearly 55 years, Shahin Farahani, his sons Ben and Holden, their respective wives, Kelly and Shelley, and his grandchildren, Sean, Ava, Devin, Ashley, and Ella.

Ali’s funeral will be held by the immediate family this week, and the family will host a Celebration of Life event in the Spring to allow Ali’s friends and extended family the opportunity to celebrate the love and kindness with which Ali left the world. Invitations shall be sent out in the near future.
