Sandra S. Tomassone

Sandra S. Tomassone (nee Swartz), age 84, of Carlisle, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle.
She was born April 25, 1933 in Lewistown, to the late David L. Sr. and Joyce (Beaver) Swartz.
Sandra was a longtime active member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle where she served three terms on congregational council, was involved with Steven Ministry for eleven years and served as secretary of WELCA. She was a member of Harrisburg Hospital Alumni Association, PA Association of School Retirees, PSERS, American Red Cross, where she taught CPR, Carlisle Area Religious Council and Band Boosters. Sandra attended Juniata College and graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a nursing degree. She started her career as a Public Health Nurse in Philadelphia before going on to work at the Carlisle Hospital and later retiring as a school nurse at Big Spring School District after over twenty years of service. Sandra was an avid fan of all Penn State sports teams, a supporter of local music and the arts and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Sandra is survived by: two sons, A. Daniel (and wife Amy) Tomassone of York and Michael (and wife Karen) Tomassone of Carlisle; a sister, Nancy (and husband James) Hopper of Tucson, AZ; a brother, David (and wife Elisabeth) Swartz, Jr. of Charleston, SC; and grandchildren David (and wife Shea) Tomassone of Carlisle, Kelly Tomassone (and fiancé Nathan Rhodes) of Waynesboro and Kathryn Tomassone of York.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 21 S Bedford St, Carlisle, PA 17013, with Reverend Lisa M. Leber officiating. Interment will be private and at the discretion of the family. There will be a visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of services on Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sandra’s honor to First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
