Ivan H. Whitsell

Ivan H. Whitsell, 88 of Carlisle, died Friday August 24, 2018, at his residence with his loving family by his side.

He was born September 7, 1929 in Eldorado, IL, to the late Anuel and Mable Harris Whitsell.

Ivan retired as a mechanical engineer from PPG Industries after 37 years of employment. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois, class of 1954 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a US Army Veteran and was 42-year member of the Second Presbyterian Church, Carlisle. He was a member of the Masons in Illinois for over 66 years. He was a member of the Carlisle Fish and Game, where he enjoyed trap and target shooting and was a member of the former Carlisle Gun Club. Ivan enjoyed golfing and cooking, without even measuring his ingredients. But most of all, his loving family meant the most to him.

Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Randi S. Whitsell, a son, Donald L. Whitsell, and wife Tina, of Carlisle, a daughter, Amy S. Anderson, and husband Mark, of Elizabethtown, five grandchildren, Courtney and husband Sean Drew, Abigale and Hannah Whitsell, and Alex and Michael Whitsell. He was preceded in death by a brother Marvin.

Private graveside services will be held at the Garden at Second Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey W. Gilbilius and Rev. Mary Washburn officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Assoc., 3301 Old Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill PA 17011 or to Second Presbyterian Church, 528, Garland Drive, Carlisle PA 17013

Arrangements are entrusted to Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle.
