Howard J. Wyland

Howard J. Wyland, age 90, of New Kingstown, passed Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Millerstown, PA on October 24, 1927 to the late James and Cora (Fahnestock) Wyland.
Howard had retired as a mechanic from the New Cumberland Army Depot after 28 years. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII as a mechanic over in Germany. He was a life member of the New Kingstown Fire Company. Howard was a member of the Hershey Region of the AACA, Blue Moon Cruisers, the Mechanicsburg Club, the Mechanicsburg VFW Post #6704, the Millerstown Moose Lodge, Mechanicsburg American Legion Post #109, the Pleasant View Hunting Club of Sullivan County. Howard was a dedicated hunter and firefighter where he served New Kingstown for over 60 years. He had a passion for antique cars, but most of all the loving time his spent with his family.
For those who are attending the funeral services and are owners of antique and classic cars, the family would welcome you to drive them for the funeral procession to honor Howard.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Dollie A. (Inch) Wyland of New Kingstown; two sons, Howard W. (wife Sandy) Wyland of New Kingstown, Kenneth L. (wife Dianne) Wyland of Carlisle; a daughter, Christine M. Gutshall (husband James) of Carlisle; five grandchildren, Heather Robbins, Bret Wyland, Renee Wyland, Robin Toot and Michael Gutshall; three great-grandchildren, Konnor Robbins, Kenleigh Gutshall, and Sawyer Toot, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, two brothers, Raymond and Roy Wyland, and three sisters, Peggy Bechtel, Ida Chase, Linda Swartz.
A celebration of life service will be held Monday, July 30, 2018 at 11:00 am at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle, PA with the Rev. Eric L. Funk officiating. Interment will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens with military honors being provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. There will be a viewing at the funeral home Sunday July 29, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 and on Monday from 10 am until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Kingstown Fire Company, 277 N. Locust Point Rd., New Kingstown PA 17072, or the Lebanon VA Medical Center, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA.
