Ernest D. Johnson

Ernest D. Johnson, age 85, of Carlisle passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born July 5, 1932 in Lawton, OK to the late Jack and Willie Belle (Johnson) Johnson.
Ernest retired from the U.S. Army as a Colonel. He was a member of the Blue Lodge F&AM #434 Andalusia, Alabama; Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, S.J., USA Montgomery, Alabama; Alcazar Shriners of Montgomery, Alabama; National Sojourners, Inc.; Carlisle Chapter #130; and First Baptist Church, Lawton, OK. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.
Ernest is survived by his sons, Ernest Randal Johnson of Shippensburg, Leonard Scott Johnson (Laurie) of Mechanicsburg; daughters, Cheryl A. Mehring (David) of Carlisle, Karen S. McAuliffe (Richard) of Carlisle; sister, Margaret Branstetter of Lawton, OK; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his beloved dogs, Sophie and Zoey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda (Nix) Johnson in April 2008; brothers, Albert, David and Cecil Owens; sisters, Opal Allred, Ruby and Oleta Morgan, Juanita Lawson; and grandson, Patrick McAuliffe.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 18, 2018 at 11:00 am at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle, PA with Chaplain Alan Lane officiating. Masonic services will be held prior to the service. There will be a visitation from 10:00 am until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens.
