Obituary for Edwin Paul "Ed" Sharo

Edwin Paul “Ed” Sharo, age 89, of Boiling Springs, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Thornwald Home.
He was born August 23, 1928 in Pittsburgh to the late Paul and Martha Sharo and was the widower of Phyllis (Pullishy) Sharo who passed April 13, 2012.
Ed graduated from Duquesne High School where he was a starting linebacker and fullback on the football team. His skills on the football field led to him being offered an athletic scholarship to Colgate University. After graduation, rather than accept the scholarship, Ed chose to enlist in the United States Army Air Corps. He achieved the rank of Corporal in the Signal Corps and was honorably discharged in 1949. During his time stationed in Alaska, he met his future wife, Phyllis, who was a Canadian citizen. They soon married and returned to live in the States. He graduated from Gettysburg College and spent his career employed with United Telephone Company. He retired as Vice President.
He is survived by: his son, David (wife Linda) Sharo of Edmond, OK; a daughter, Susan Lee Rombis of Toronto, Canada; three grandchildren, Nicholas and Jeffery Rombis and Heather Hulcio of Ontario, Canada. In addition to his parents and wife, Ed was preceded in death by a brother, Donald D. Sharo.
In accordance with Edwin’s wishes, there will be no services or visitation. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Furry Friends Network, PO Box 519, Boiling Springs, PA 17007.
